• Do not remove your or your infant’s hospital bracelets • Compare identification numbers on your bracelets every time your baby comes to you • Do not leave your baby unattended • Do not give your baby to anyone without a specialized identification badge • Always report suspicious activity to your nurse immediately • Question all unfamiliar persons entering your room, even those in hospital attire • Become familiar with your and your baby’s nurse • Encourage your family and visitors to cooperate with visiting policies Keeping Your Baby Safe at Home
Once you and your baby are home, remember these suggestions to help keep your baby safe:
• Avoid placing birth announcements in the newspaper, especially if full name and address are included. • Avoid displaying outdoor decorations, such as balloons, storks or other ornaments. • Avoid allowing strangers to enter your home when you are alone with the baby.
