Since the Daughters of Charity opened the area's first hospital in 1915, Sacred Heart Health System has grown into the regional leader for providing high-quality, compassionate health care to children and adults in Northwest Florida. Today, we have hospitals in Pensacola, South Walton County and Gulf County, and we provide physicians offices and outpatient centers across the coast of the Florida Panhandle. In 2012, our mission expanded farther as we became a partner in the operation of Bay Medical Center in Panama City.

 We are a member of Ascension Health, the nation's largest Catholic, non-profit health system.

More than 700 primary care and specialty physicians practice at Sacred Heart. Our major services include:

The hub of the Health System is a 466-bed acute care facility which includes Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, Sacred Heart Children's Hospital and Sacred Heart Women's Hospital. Our hospital is highly regarded for the quality of its care, and national studies of patient outcomes have rated us among the top 5 percent in the nation. 

In 2003, our Health System opened Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast, a 58-bed hospital in Walton County, east of Destin.

In early 2010, our Health System extended further east in the Florida Panhandle when we opened Sacred Heart Hospital on the Gulf, a 19-bed hospital and a medical office building in Port St. Joe, FL.  

As a member of Ascension Health, Sacred Heart practices its mission of care to the poor in many ways, providing comfort and healing to those in need spiritually, medically or financially. Sacred Heart spends tens of millions of dollars each year to provide care to the poor and uninsured. We also reach out to the needy with community services such as our mobile health unit through our clinics, which provide medical care and dental care to low-income children and pregnant women.
