AIRHeart is Sacred Heart's air ambulance service dedicated to transporting critically ill and injured patients to healthcare facilities throughout Northwest Florida. AIRHeart has two helicopters that fly from bases in DeFuniak Springs and Marianna, Florida

Medical Support

Depending on the patient's location, personal preference and the medical severity, the helicopter team may transport the patient to hospitals in Florida, Alabama and Georgia. AIRHeart operates under the medical direction of a board certified Emergency Physician. AIRHeart also transports to the region's only Pediatric Trauma Center located at Sacred Heart hospital in Pensacola, Fla. After being dispatched, a flight crew - consisting of a pilot, Sacred Heart critical care flight nurse and a critical care paramedic flies into action, significantly reducing the time it takes to get critically ill and injured patients to the appropriate hospital.

Service Area

From bases in DeFuniak Springs and Marianna, AIRHeart deploys to emergency medical situations across Northwest Florida, South Alabama and Southwest Georgia. Inter-facility transfers may be conducted within a much larger region. Aircraft

AIRHeart utilizes two Eurocopter AS350 (A-Star) helicopters specially fitted to transport one patient and the three-man flight team. The helicopters can cruise at 152 mph. This service complements the Health System's pediatric and neonatal transport service that has been in operation for more than 25 years.
