Child Life Internship

Child Life Internship
The Children's Hospital at Sacred Heart Child Life Department offers an internship opportunity for students actively pursuing a career as a child life specialist. Internship students are required to either currently be enrolled in the final semester of their senior year or have graduated with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Child Life, Child Development, Child Health, Education, or a related field.

The child life internship is 15 weeks (600 hours) in length and offers opportunities to gain experience in our 21-bed School-age/Adolescent Unit, 20-bed Infant/Toddler Unit, 10-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, as well as our Pediatric Outpatient Infusion Center. Patients typically range in age from 0-18 years old and consist of a variety of diagnoses with exposure to both acute and chronic conditions. The internship experience at Children's aims to provide the student with the needed knowledge to be adequately prepared for an entry level child life specialist position. Our Child Life Department follows the CLC recommendations for internships including deadlines and curriculum. In addition, we will be using the Common Child Life Internship Application form found on the CLC website www.childlife.org.

As this internship is very in demand, we will only consider the first 30 applicants.
