Destin Johnson

Hi, my name is Destin Johnson. I am a 23 year old young adult who has faced many challenges. Sacred Heart Hospital is a health institute, chosen by God, to help fulfill his infinite plan to produce the young man that walk amongst you today.

From the time of my birth, I have fought the fight to defeat the life threatening effects of Cystic Fibrosis. This fight was not fought alone. God was in the mist, but he also provided some of the greatest warriors to step to the front line and help defend my case. Warriors, such as Dr. Northrop, Dr. Kevin Maupin, Dr. John Bray, Glen RRT, Larry RRT, just to name a few, have taken on the mandate to defend this battle. Most of all, the greatest warriors were the family members, such as Gladys Snowden and Monica Snowden-Lindsey, that never threw in the towel, fighting day and night to gain victory in a negative situation.

After years of training and experience, I am now ready to stand with my forefathers in the health profession and become drafted into the ranks as another warrior. I am now currently going to school at the University of South Alabama. I am studying Cardiorespiratory to become a respiratory therapist. The best is yet to come. I am determined to adventure into the life of Pulmonary Medicine to become a Pulmonologist. I have seen and heard of many great children who have become victimized to this disease at an early age.

My prayer for everyone who has lost a loved one to this disease is that God will keep you strong and in good spirits. I want to encourage any man, woman, boy, or girl, that may be fighting this fight, to keep fighting and keeping holding on. “YOU CAN MAKE IT”
