Have You Ever Dreamed of Becoming a Nurse?
Sacred Heart Health System associates have an opportunity to become registered nurses through a weekend and evening program developed by area hospitals and Pensacola Junior College!
Up to 10 associates sponsored by SHHS will be part of the class starting January 2010. To the extent possible, students will be scheduled for their clinical education in our hospital. Although the schedule is still being planned, all coursework and practice labs will be scheduled on weekends; perhaps every other weekend.
In addition, resource rooms are available at our hospital’s Knowledge Center (old Medical Library) for students to use. The rooms include computer stations with Internet access, study space, a conference room and a simulated patient room to practice skills and procedures. There is a selection of professional books and teaching models.
Although the classes are scheduled on weekends, students will have full access to the PJC Nursing Department and other college services during the week. The PJC Nursing Department has a full-time student services coordinator to help students with academic matters and other issues. SHHS will provide tuition and fees to associates sponsored in this program as part of the SHHS RN Scholarship Program. Other financial aid may be available through PJC.
