Robert B. Cameron, MD
Orthopaedic Hand Surgeon

Robert B. Cameron, MD

Dr. Cameron began his orthopaedic career at the Hospital for Special Surgery at Cornell University Medical Center in New York City, spending a year in orthopedic research before entering the orthopaedic resident program at that Institution. After completing his resident training he spent an additional six months as the Hand Fellow at the same Institution.

Prior to starting his orthopaedic practice in Pensacola in 1972, Dr. Cameron spent six months providing orthopaedic care in the third world at the Hospital Kassar Said in Tunis, Tunisia. More recently he has volunteered his time to provide consultations and surgeries in the field of hand surgery to the Navajo Indians at the U.S. Public Health Service Hospital in Chinle, Arizona

In 1982, Dr. Cameron left his practice in Pensacola to spend an additional six months as a Hand Fellow at Edinburgh University in Scotland, the land of his ancestors. Upon returning to Pensacola, Dr. Cameron focused his energies on the subspecialty of surgery of the hand and for many years he was the sole member of the Pensacola medical community to be a member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.

Dr. Cameron has been the recipient of the Nicholas Andry Award for outstanding achievement in the field of orthopaedic surgery. He has presented numerous papers at orthopaedic meetings and seminars over the past 35 years.

Prior to entering the specialty of orthopaedics, Dr. Cameron was the recipient of the Surgeon’s General’s Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement at the U.S. Navy School of Aviation Medicine in Pensacola.

Dr. Cameron was one of the founding members of the North Florida Surgery Center and has served as its President since 1996. He has also served at varying times as Chief of the Orthopaedic Section at both Baptist Hospital and Sacred Heart Hospital.
