In order to serve the communities of the Florida Panhandle and Gulf Coast, Sacred Heart Health System has added adult kidney transplantation services to Sacred Heart Hospital Pensacola. For candidates with end-stage kidney disease who qualify, kidney transplant remains the optimal treatment for kidney failure.
We welcome all referrals of patients who are interested in pursuing kidney transplantation as a treatment option and look forward to working with your physicians and caregivers to provide the best service possible.
Our program is affiliated with the University of Florida Health which has over 50 years of experience providing kidney transplant services.
Our Pensacola care team includes transplant surgeon, Dr. Rick Stevens, and transplant nephrologist, Dr. Douglas Keith, who have a combined experience in kidney transplant of over 40 years.
Sacred Heart’s goal is to expand kidney transplant services in the southeast while providing the highest level of care for all of our patients.
Although in the future the Sacred Heart Kidney Transplant Program will be performing living donor kidney transplants in Pensacola, initially our program will only be performing deceased donor transplants.
While you are waiting for your transplant, which may be several years, it is important you keep in contact with our team. There are specific events which must happen for you to stay active on the transplant list.
Sacred Heart Health System and University of Florida Health are collaborating through the University’s Division of Transplant Surgery, Department of Surgery, College of Medicine.
