PENSACOLA, Fla. (July 13, 2012) -- Sacred Heart Hospital has started to erect steel and pour concrete as it moves along with a major expansion project that will add a five-story tower on top of the hospital's Heart and Vascular Institute building.
The community can follow the progress of the SHHP expansion project by visiting a new Web site at www.sacredheartexpansion.com. In addition to weekly updates and photos of construction work, the site includes live images from a webcam overlooking the site.
Greenhut Construction, the general contractor, has built a steel and concrete bridge structure that will connect the main Sacred Heart Hospital building to the new tower.
The new patient units in the expanded tower are expected to open in May 2014. Of the 115 rooms in the new tower, all are private and 40 will be for critically ill patients.
