PENSACOLA, Fla. – Sacred Heart Hospital has earned The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval® for its Joint Replacement Program, specifically of the knee and hip, demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission's national standards for health care quality and safety in disease-specific care. The certification award recognizes Sacred Heart's dedication to continuous compliance with The Joint Commission's state-of-the- art standards.
''Joint Commission accreditation provides us a framework to take our organization to the next level and strengthens our culture of excellence,'' says Henry Stovall, President of Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola. ''Achieving Joint Commission certification in joint replacement surgery of the knee and hip is a major step for our organization toward maintaining excellence and continually improving the care we provide.''
Sacred Heart Hospital underwent a rigorous on-site review in late June. A Joint Commission expert evaluated Sacred Heart's Joint Program for compliance with standards of care specific to the needs of patients and families, including infection prevention and control, leadership and medication management.
''This certification process was truly a team effort,'' says Dr. Jean Dabezies, Medical Director of Sacred Heart's Joint Replacement Program. ''It took everyone working together on the same page to achieve this substantial goal with a focus on patient safety and satisfaction.''
Sacred Heart is the only hospital in the Pensacola area to achieve this level of certification by The Joint Commission.
