Dr. Roger Berkow, a board-certified pediatric cancer specialist for Nemours Children’s Clinic, has joined the medical staff of The Children’s Hospital at Sacred Heart.
Dr. Berkow received his medical degree from the Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine and completed his internship and pediatric residency at the University of Chicago Hospitals/Clinics Wyler's Children's Hospital. He also completed clinical and research fellowships in pediatric hematology/oncology at Indiana University.
Prior to moving to Pensacola, Dr. Berkow practiced pediatric oncology at The Children’s Hospital of Alabama in Birmingham, Ala., where he also served as the program director for the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program, as the vice-chair for academic affairs and assistant clerkship director for the department of pediatrics, and as a professor of pediatrics in the division of hematology/oncology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. In addition to his medical practice, Dr. Berkow is the editor-in-chief of the American Academy of Pediatrics PREP Self Assessment.
Dr. Berkow was recently named the chair of medicine for Nemours Children’s Clinic Pensacola and is an elected member of the Society for Pediatric Research, the American Society of Hematology, the Children’s Oncology Group, and the American Pediatric Society, as well as an active member of the Southern Society for Pediatric Research, the American Association of Medical Colleges Group on Educational Affairs, the American Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, and the American Academy of Pediatrics, Section of Hematology/Oncology. He is also a member of the National Board of Medical Examiners.
