PENSACOLA, Fla. -- Mothers in Sacred Heart Hospital’s Maternity and Women’s Center will now be able to order food, request assistance with breastfeeding their newborn, request extra blankets and pillows, and much more through a new “Bedside Concierge” mobile service available during their hospital stay.
Together with GoMo Health Concierge Care®, Sacred Heart’s new program enables patients to make non-clinical comfort requests through a smartphone, tablet or laptop. Requests are submitted directly to the departments that service them, meaning a new mother’s needs can be met faster.
“In the days following the birth of a baby, our new moms find their hospital room to be a flurry of activity,” said Lisa Gardner, director of women’s services for Sacred Heart Hospital Pensacola. “This new mobile service gives our moms greater control over their hospital experience, while allowing our nurses to focus more of their attention on a mom’s clinical needs and direct patient care.”
Sacred Heart will first make this program available to patients in the Maternity and Women’s Center, offering services specific to new moms, including:
• Food ordering
• Extra pillows and blankets
• Patient room requests
• Fresh sheets
• Vehicle valet service
• Birth certificate processing
• Breastfeeding assistance
“The Bedside Concierge is truly a differentiator for our patient experience at Sacred Heart,” said Ian Freund, Sacred Heart’s general manager of TouchPoint services. “Through this new program, we hope to make their hospital stay the most comfortable and enjoyable it can be.”
In October 2016, Sacred Heart launched Monogram Maternity, a birth-design and education service to help expectant moms-to-be personalize their birth experiences. Monogram Maternity begins during pregnancy, when women are invited to meet with Sacred Heart’s new birth designer, who will assist them in building their birth preferences and choose from new amenities, including birthing balls, aromatherapy and celebratory meals. Sacred Heart’s birth designer will also help mothers register for childbirth classes, connect with lactation services if needed and provide education about what to expect in labor and delivery.
In addition to Monogram Maternity and its new Bedside Concierge mobile app, Sacred Heart has recently added a lullaby and celebratory cupcake for maternity patients. Each time a baby is born at Sacred Heart, a lullaby version of “Happy Birthday” now plays over the hospital’s public address system. Once mothers are settled in the hospital’s postpartum mother-baby unit, nurses deliver a celebratory cupcake to their room to commemorate the baby’s birthday and welcome the newborn into the world.
Delivering more than 3,500 babies each year, the Sacred Heart Maternity and Women’s Center is the most preferred childbirth facility in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties and offers the area’s only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, OB Emergency Care Center and high-risk pregnancy unit.
