PENSACOLA, Fla. -- Board-certified thoracic surgeon Dr. Paul Chomiak has become a certified provider through the MD Anderson Cancer Network™.
Dr. Chomiak received his medical degree from the Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine. After completing his general surgical training at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago, he pursued a fellowship in thoracic oncologic surgery and thoracic transplant at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Chomiak is a diplomat of the American Board of Thoracic Surgeons, as well as a fellow of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
Dr. Chomiak’s surgical expertise includes thoracic robotic surgery, video assisted thoracic surgery, chest wall resection and reconstruction, thoracic stereotactic body radiotherapy and interventional bronchoscopy, which includes Electromagnetic Navigational Bronchoscopy, Endobronchial Ultrasound and Endobronchial Laser Ablation. Dr. Chomiak is the only thoracic surgeon certified through MD Anderson in Florida or Alabama.
To earn this certification, Dr. Chomiak was nominated by the Sacred Heart Cancer Center, underwent a thorough review and was then presented to the MD Anderson Physicians Network Credentials Committee.

As a result of this affiliation, Sacred Heart cancer patients are treated according to the latest clinical care guidelines developed by teams of specialists at MD Anderson Cancer Network. Since the start of this partnership in 2006, the Sacred Heart Cancer Center has undergone continuous and rigorous review of its standards and practices to ensure it meets the high standards of care of MD Anderson Cancer Network. In 2014, Sacred Heart Cancer Center also entered into a research affiliation with MD Anderson Cancer Network in order to bring the network’s clinical trials to the Pensacola region.
