PENSACOLA, Fla. -- Bobbi Curry has been promoted to serve as nurse manager for Sacred Heart’s Perinatal Specialty Care Unit. Curry’s role will include planning, directing and evaluating the inpatient care and services provided for Sacred Heart’s high-risk pregnancy patients.
Curry has more than 15 years of nursing experience in maternity care and women’s health, most of which was spent at UnityPoint Health in Des Moines, Iowa, where she progressed from nurse to unit-based educator to supervisor of the maternity center. Curry received her associate’s degree in nursing from Des Moines Area Community College in Boone, Iowa; her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Iowa and her master’s degree in nursing from Walden University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She is a certified Fetal-Monitoring Instructor through the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses. Most recently, Curry served as clinical educator for Sacred Heart’s women’s services, which included the mother-baby unit, labor-and-delivery unit, newborn nursery and inpatient gynecology unit.
As Northwest Florida’s Regional Perinatal Center -- one of 12 such centers in the state -- Sacred Heart provides the highest level of medical care to women with high-risk pregnancies and their babies. In addition to the inpatient high-risk pregnancy unit at Sacred Heart Hospital Pensacola -- which Curry oversees -- Sacred Heart’s Regional Perinatal Center includes satellite outreach clinics across Northwest Florida and South Alabama offering outpatient consultations, as well as genetic and preconception counseling. The physician specialists treat and manage various medical complications of pregnancy, including diabetes, hypertension, pre-eclampsia, placenta previa, premature rupture of the amniotic membranes, preterm labor and RH disease.
Delivering more than 3,500 babies each year, the Sacred Heart Maternity and Women’s Center is the most preferred childbirth facility in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties and offers the area’s only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, OB Emergency Care Center and high-risk pregnancy unit.
