Sacred Heart to Provide Free Health Screenings in September 2014

Posted: 8/21/2014

During September, Sacred Heart Health System will provide free heart-health and osteoporosis screenings at several locations in Pensacola and Navarre for adults who are poor, elderly, or uninsured.

Heart-health screenings will measure blood pressure, blood sugar, and total cholesterol, and can detect anemia.  The screenings are helpful in diagnosing conditions that put people at high risk for heart attack, stroke, diabetes, and other health problems.  Osteoporosis screenings measure bone density.

Following is the September schedule:

  • Sept. 8 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the YMCA, 410 N. Palafox St., Pensacola.  Osteoporosis screenings

  • Sept. 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Life Changing Experience Worship Center, 2120 W. Jackson St., Pensacola.  Heart-health screenings (non-fasting)

  • Sept. 24 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Betty Pullum YMCA, 2379 Pawnee Dr., Navarre.  Osteoporosis screenings

  • Sept. 27 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Zion Hope Primitive Baptist Church, 201 W. Leonard St., Pensacola.  Heart-health screenings

In addition, during September, Sacred Heart will be providing free hearing and vision screenings for students enrolled in Head Start programs at schools in Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.  These screenings will be held at the schools.
