Our History & Mission
Occupational Health at Sacred Heart is committed to providing comprehensive occupational health services that are accessible and convenient to businesses in our community. From immediate injury care to rehabilitation, our focus is on restoring function and work abilities.
Our mission began in 1983, when Dr. Fred Mixon identified a need for healthcare services within the business community. To meet these growing needs, Sacred Heart and Dr. Mixon created the first Urgent Care Center in Pensacola. Within this clinic, the area’s first Business Health service line was launched. Dr. Mixon and his team of physicians provided work injury treatment, physicals, drug and alcohol testing and executive physicals.
From this small beginning, Occupational Health has grown to a staff of seven full-time and two part-time physicians, and our services have increased to include audio and pulmonary function testing and medical review officer services.
