Deeply rooted in the Daughters of Charity values is our commitment to the poor which goes beyond covering the costs of hospital care for those unable to pay.
In fact, Sacred Heart Mission Services are responsible for keeping the community healthy through a variety of programs, grants and services funded entirely by Sacred Heart Health System.
With our greatest emphasis on prevention -- through screening and education outreach services -- Sacred Heart serves the needy in many ways, including the following:
Underwriting Direct Clinical Care
Our Pediatric Clinic located on the campus of Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola provides thousands of children from low-income families with the full services of a pediatric practice.
Our Pediatric Dental Clinic provides dental services to thousands of children from low-income families who otherwise have no access to dental care. The Dental Clinic, located in the Ensley area of Escambia County, is operated through a partnership with the Escambia County Health Department.
Our Seton Center for Gynecology & Obstetrics provides comprehensive OB/GYN services including the management of high-risk pregnancies.
Escambia Community Clinics -- is cosponsored by Sacred Heart, and provides immediate treatment to children and adults with minor injuries or illnesses and necessary follow up care.
Outreach and Community Service
Mission in Motion, our mobile health service, provides free screenings, vaccinations and health information to thousands of area residents on a regular basis.
Our Parish Nurse Program in which nurses volunteer within their own churches to promote the health and wellness of members of the congregation.
Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola is proud to work with Lutheran Services to provide the Ryan White Title II Case Management Program, serving those in our community living with AIDS and the HIV virus. Our program is designed to provide comprehensive information and assistance to clients and their families in areas including outpatient medical care, dental care, mental health services, and medications. Through this program, clients and their families are also linked with local agencies that can assist with needs related to housing, transportation, drug and alcohol treatment, and food.
Through our Community Sponsorships, we provide support to local organizations such as the American Heart Association, The March of Dimes, and the American Cancer Society.
Our Prescriptions for the Poor program provides immediate and interim prescriptions for individuals who do not have the means to pay for them.
Through Partners in Education, we provide volunteer mentors and clinical supplies for a Pensacola elementary school in a low-income neighborhood.
We continue our participation in a Partnership for a Healthy Community, the cooperative effort to improve the health status of all citizens by providing outreach and educational activities.
Direct Assistance
Sacred Heart provides millions of dollars in charitable care each year to people who cannot afford to pay for hospital care.
Through ongoing Assistance to Missionary Projects, we provide funding, clinical supplies and volunteer assistance for a number of area, national and international relief efforts.
