Radiation Therapy
The Sacred Heart James H. Baroco Cancer Care Center provides radiation therapy with the needs of the patient in mind. Convenient, free valet parking and covered access from a three-story parking garage also are among the patient-friendly features.
The Center for Cancer Care offers brachytherapy services, including low and high dose rate technologies, as well as external beam treatment. These services are provided under the direction of Dr. Gerald Lowrey and Dr. Rod Krentel, board certified radiation oncologists.
In keeping with our commitment to provide the highest standard of patient care, we are pleased to provide the Trilogy Stereotactic System, the most powerful and advanced form of radiation therapy available today. This state-of-the-art method of cancer treatment delivers high doses of radiation directly to cancer cells, much more precisely than is possible with conventional radiotherapy. Thanks to its unprecedented accuracy, Trilogy can deliver higher doses of radiation directly to cancer cells while sparing more of the surrounding healthy tissue.
Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy was our first major weapon in the fight against cancer, and our Sacred Heart staff of specially trained registered nurses has more than 30 years of experience administering anti-cancer drugs intravenously (IV).
Outpatient IV chemotherapy services are provided in a separate area of Sacred Heart Hospital. The relaxing environment includes spacious windows, comfortable recliners with heat/massage, and televisions with earphones.
