Deeply rooted in the Daughters of Charity values is our commitment to the poor which goes beyond covering the costs of hospital care for those unable to pay.
In fact, Sacred Heart is bringing the healing ministry of Christ into the communities we serve through a variety of programs and services funded by our Health System.
With our greatest emphasis on prevention -- through screening and education outreach services -- Sacred Heart is a not-for-profit health system that serves the needy in the following ways:
Underwriting Direct Clinical Care
Our Pediatric Clinic at 1679 Trinity Drive provides children from low income families with the full services of a pediatric practice. The clinic sees sick children who has illnesses such as cold, ear infections and the flu, and we also provide immunizations, screenings and education of families.
Sacred Heart also is pleased to offer the services of the Lynn F. Johnston Pediatric Dental Clinic, which provides dental services to thousands of needy or uninsured children who otherwise would not have access to a pediatrician's care. Services include dental exams, dental hygiene instructions, cleanings, x-ays, emergency treatments and oral surgery.
Our Seton Center for Gynecology & Obstetrics provides comprehensive OB/GYN services to low income women. It provides routine and high risk prenatal care and gynecological services for women of all ages.
Escambia Community Clinics -- is co-sponsored by Sacred Heart, and provides primary care to children and adults with minor injuries or illnesses and necessary follow up care. ECC provides services to all persons, regardless of their ability to pay. The clinic's operations are subsidized by Sacred Heart Health System and Baptist Health Care.
Outreach and Community Service
Mission in Motion, our mobile health service, provides free screenings, vaccinations and health information to thousands of area residents on a regular basis.
Our Parish Nurse Program in which nurses volunteer within their own churches to promote the health and wellness of members of the congregation.
Through our Community Sponsorships, we provide support to local organizations such as the American Heart Association, The March of Dimes, and the American Cancer Society.
Our Prescriptions for the Poor program provides immediate and interim prescriptions for individuals who do not have the means to pay for them.
Through Partners in Education, we provide volunteer mentors and clinical supplies for a Pensacola elementary school in a low-income neighborhood.
We continue our participation in a Partnership for a Healthy Community, the cooperative effort to improve the health status of all citizens by providing outreach and educational activities.
Through a partnership with Nemours Foundation, and our own Call Sacred Heart program, we provide easy access 24 hours a day to Internet health information and to Sacred Heart nurses who provide advice over the telephone.
Direct Assistance
Sacred Heart provides millions of dollars in charitable care each year to people who cannot afford to pay for hospital care. Since 1915, we have been committed to providing quality care to all persons, regardless of their ability to pay.
Through ongoing Assistance to Missionary Projects, we provide funding, clinical supplies and volunteer assistance for a number of area, national and international relief efforts.
