Quick Response to Chest Pain
Sacred Heart is expanding the frontiers of management of heart attack. Innovative methods of patient triage and management are used to urgently open coronary arteries in heart attack victims. Primary emphasis is on increasing the number of patients who receive life-saving treatment and reducing the critical minutes required to deliver clot-dissolving medication or to perform balloon catheter therapy.
Sacred Heart's full service Emergency Department, in cooperation with the Heart and Vascular Institute, provides a fully-equipped Chest Pain Center. The Chest Pain Center provides effective management of patients with chest pain, streamlining diagnostic testing and, in some cases, avoiding unnecessary hospitalization. The newest therapies available are offered through participation in research involving clot-busting drugs and interventional catheter techniques.
