Sacred Heart Hospital-Pensacola Pre-op Instructions

Welcome!

You have been scheduled for a Surgical procedure at Sacred Heart Health System. Prior to surgery, you will need to have a Pre-op Appointment. You will be given either a telephone appointment or an appointment to come to our office depending on the type of procedure and/or your medical health history. It is very important that we reach you.. At the pre-op appointment, a nurse will obtain your medical history, review your procedure and answer any questions you have, and give you pre-surgical instructions. Your surgery arrival time and location will be given to you by the admissions nurse at your pre-op appointment.

If you require lab work or additional testing, the nurse will order these based on your physician’s orders and direct you to the appropriate location to obtain.

Children scheduled for surgery who are 17 years of age or younger must have a pre-op appointment with their parent or legal guardian. Proof of legal guardianship is required for surgery. Legal paperwork must be provided prior to surgery.

If you are scheduled to come to the pre-admissions office for your pre-op appointment, please bring any paperwork your physician may have given you including a History and Physical, orders, instructions and any other related documentation or notes.

Pre-op visits are scheduled by appointment only. Your surgeon may give you an appointment day and time or if not you should call our office to schedule your Pre-op appointment:

Out Patient Surgical Center (850) 416-7196, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday

In Patient Main O.R. (850) 416-7830, 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday

Please provide a telephone number where you will be able to be reached at the time of your pre-op appointment (home, work, and cell phone numbers).

Please be sure your surgeon has the patient’s correct LEGAL first and last name. All procedures are scheduled and medical records maintained under the patient’s LEGAL name.

Have a current list of your medications, with dosage, available (prescription and over the counter) at the time of your pre-op appointment.

The Billing Process

You will be billed separately for the services of the: surgeon, pathologist, cardiologist, radiologist, and anesthesiologist if applicable.

You will receive a phone call from the hospital admissions office to obtain insurance information prior to the day of surgery.

We must have verification of your insurance coverage for your procedure prior to your surgery date. It will be your responsibility to inform your insurance carrier that you have a surgical procedure scheduled.

Your Surgeon’s office will be responsible for obtaining any needed preauthorization number from your insurance company if one is required.

The hospital billing department will file your claim for you. If you should have questions regarding your bill please call (850) 416-1570

If you are paying your bill without insurance, arrangements must be made with the business office prior to surgery. Unless otherwise arranged, payment in full will be expected on the day of surgery. You may pay by personal check, cash, Master Card, or Visa.

Valet Service

A complimentary parking service is provided for patients of and visitors to the Sacred Heart campus. Simply drive your car to the BRENT LANE PARKING GARAGE, located behind the main Hospital, you will be met by a valet who will obtain a wheelchair if needed, give you a claim check for your vehicle, and obtain your keys to park your automobile. You will be on the ground floor of the Medical Mall building 5147.

This service is absolutely free. Hours of operation: 5:30 a.m. - 6 p.m., Monday - Friday, excluding holidays. The valet service extension is 6575. After hours, cars are moved to Valet at the front entrance of the Hospital.

Directions

Convenient parking is provided behind the main hospital in the Brent Lane Parking Garage. You may use our Valet Service or park in the parking garage.

The Surgical Pre-Admissions Department is located on the first floor of the Medical Mall, building 5147, Suite 107.

Take the outside elevator attached to the Brent Lane Parking Garage and press 1. Exit the elevator and follow the walkway into the building. Take the first hallway to your right. Our office will be the 2nd office on the left, Suite 107.

On the Day of Surgery

Park in the Brent Lane Garage (or use Valet Service). Enter the Medical Mall. Take elevator “G” to the 2nd floor. Check in at the Surgery Center.
