Preceptors and Patient Care Responsibilities
 Kathleen Bellard |
Kathleen Bellard, M.S. Pharm. is the clinical oncology pharmacist in the ambulatory Medical Oncology Clinic and is the primary oncology preceptor for students and residents. Her clinical activities include patient profile review, patient chemotherapy and medication counseling, protocol development and review, drug information, and investigational drug studies. She also oversees the operational aspects of chemotherapy compounding and administration. She works closely with the physicians and nurses in all aspects of the patient’s chemotherapeutic treatment plan. Kathleen spent four years as a clinical pharmacist at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston Texas. Kathleen received her B.S. in Pharmacy from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science and her M.S. in Pharmacy from the University of Houston

 Chenita Carter

Chenita Carter, Pharm. D. is a graduate of Florida A&M University College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and completed her pharmacy practice residency in pediatrics at Sacred Heart Hospital. She is a pediatric clinical pharmacist and works with the multidisciplinary teams in the Children’s Hospital. Her responsibilities include patient profile review, multidisciplinary rounds, kinetic monitoring, nutrition consults, and antibiotic review, along with order processing, dispensing, and technician supervision. Another area where Chenita is extensively involved is in the P&T committee (oversees distribution of the P&T newsletter).

 Spencer H. Durham |
Spencer H. Durham, Pharm. D. is a pediatric clinical specialist who serves as the preceptor for general pediatrics. Spencer is originally from Arab, Alabama, and is a 2007 graduate of the Auburn University Harrison School of Pharmacy. After graduation, he completed a PGY-1 pharmacy residency in pediatrics at Children’s Health System in Birmingham, Alabama, and subsequently joined the pharmacy staff at Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital. His primary responsibilities included patient profile review, multidisciplinary rounds with the FSU pediatrics medical team, pharmacokinetic monitoring, nutrition consults, providing drug information, and antibiotic review, in addition to order processing, dispensing, and technician supervision. Spencer’s primary areas of interest include infectious diseases, medication safety, and pain management.

 Maree Fuller Effinger |
Maree Fuller Effinger, Pharm. D. is the primary preceptor for the adult critical care rotations. She graduated from Samford University – McWhorter School of Pharmacy and came to work at Sacred Heart Hospital shortly after. Maree coordinates activities in the critical care pharmacy satellite that include multidisciplinary patient care rounds, parenteral nutrition ordering, medication profile review, kinetic monitoring, and renal dosing along with order processing and emergency medication dispensing.

 Susan McDaniel |
Susan McDaniel, Pharm. D. co-leads the drug information activities within the pharmacy department. She graduated with her B.S. and Pharm.D. from the University of Florida College of Pharmacy. She provides clinical support in the pediatric pharmacy satellite as well as consultant pharmacy support within the community. Susan’s clinical responsibilities include patient profile review, multidisciplinary rounds, kinetic monitoring, nutrition consults, and antibiotic review, along with order processing, dispensing, and technician supervision.

Stephanie Luke |
Stephanie Luke, Pharm.D. is a clinical staff pharmacist who works primarily in the adult critical care pharmacy satellite and is a preceptor to students and residents during their drug information and critical care experiences. She works alongside nurses, physicians and other ancillary staff on a daily basis to ensure optimal patient care. Her responsibilities include medication profile review, multidisciplinary rounds in the ACCU, kinetic and TPN services, anticoagulation monitoring, and renal dosage adjustments, as well as order processing and medication dispensing. Stephanie earned her Pharm.D. from the University of Florida College of Pharmacy and is native of the Florida panhandle.

Chris Shawyer
|
Chris Shawyer, Pharm. D. holds the position of Clinical Pharmacy Manager in adult medicine, and provides preceptorship for the adult medicine rotations and electives. He is also has responsibilities of leading the Pharmacy and Therapeutics committee and Medication Safety Subcommittee, DUE development and reporting, ADE and ADR reporting, and formulary management. Chris guides the clinical activities of the staff pharmacists and also coordinates the pharmacy students in 4th year clinical rotations. Chris graduated with his B.S. Pharmacy from the University of Maryland and his Pharm. D. from Virginia Commonwealth University. He completed a pharmacy residency at USPHS Hospital in New Orleans, LA.

Marroyln L. Simmons |
Marroyln L. Simmons, Pharm. D. is a pediatric clinical pharmacist that works closely with the medical staff to provide specialty care to the Children’s Hospital. She is a graduate of Florida A&M University College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and she completed Sacred Heart Hospital’s Pharmacy Practice Residency where she concentrated her electives in pediatric medicine. Her responsibilities include patient profile review, multidisciplinary rounds, kinetic monitoring, nutrition consults, and antibiotic review, along with order processing, dispensing, and technician supervision. Marroyln is the leading editor for the Pediatric P&T newsletter.

Tara Smith |
Tara Smith, Pharm. D. holds the position of Clinical Pharmacy Manager in pediatric medicine, and is also the Director of the Residency program. Her B.S. Pharmacy was obtained from the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy and her Pharm.D. was received from University of Colorado School of Pharmacy. She is a pediatric trained pharmacist and provides clinical support to the pediatric pharmacy satellite. Clinical responsibilities include patient profile review, multidisciplinary rounds, kinetic monitoring, nutrition consults, and antibiotic review, along with order processing, dispensing, and technician supervision. She provides lectures to the medical staff at pediatric medical resident noon conferences as well as Pediatric Grand Rounds for the community.

Angela Williams |
Angela Williams, Pharm. D. is the Operations Manager for the department of pharmacy and guides the residents through the administrative portion of the residency program. She provides clinical support to the department as well as operational support for the day to day activities. She is also in charge of our pharmacist directed anticoagulation clinic and provides monitoring services weekly.
