Resident Expectations
Each resident will be expected to meet criteria set forth by ASHP throughout the year of residency training. A major residency project is required and will be presented at the Southeastern Residency Conference in the spring. The project may be a research study or development/enhancement of a pharmaceutical care service within the healthcare system.
Service commitment will consist of every other weekend department coverage, including but not limited to distribution, pharmacokinetics service, nutrition service, and/or drug information provision. Anticoagulation clinic and web-based community drug information services will be covered by the resident during the week on a rotating basis. The resident will co-precept pharmacy students in the drug information rotation, as well as have defined precepting responsibilities in other elective rotations. Each resident will be expected to provide formal presentations to pharmacy staff, medical residents, and nursing staff on a regular basis.
Goals and objectives detailed in the Residency Learning System will be used to guide the resident’s training, and evaluations will be done on a regular basis. The program starts July 1st and is completed in 52 weeks.
