Dr. Indermeet Singh Bhullar, a surgeon specializing in surgical critical care, has joined Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola to serve as director of the Trauma intensive care unit.
Dr. Bhullar earned his medical degree in 1994 from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, Ala. He completed his residency training in general surgery in 2000 at the University of California Medical Center in San Diego, California.
Dr. Bhullar also has completed the following three fellowships: adult cardiac surgery at Emory University in Atlanta, thoracic surgery at Baylor University, and surgical critical care and trauma at Orlando Regional Medical Center.
During his medical training, Dr. Bhullar earned several honors, including the William Branstrom Award presented to the top five percent of the freshman class at the University of Michigan and the University's School of Liberal Arts and Science Scholarship for outstanding achievement. His research interests focus on basic science and clinical aspects of management of traumatic brain injury, the leading cause of death in young trauma patients. Most recently, he received the first place award from the Society of Critical Care Medicine at their annual meeting for his research presentation on blood transfusion practices in patients with shock.
