Healthy Weight, Healthy Cholesterol is Topic of Sacred Heart Seniors Seminar in Orange Beach

Sacred Heart Hospital's SeniorSpirit! program will present a free seminar on "Healthy Weight, Healthy Cholesterol" on Thursday, Feb. 21 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Orange Beach Senior Center, 26251 Canal Rd., in Orange Beach, Ala.

The seminar will be presented by Dr. Karin Pardue, a board certified family medicine physician with Sacred Heart Medical Group. The seminar will help attendees understand the signs and symptoms of high cholesterol, as well as ways to prevent and treat the disease.

Cholesterol is a fat-like substance found in blood and in all the of the human body's cells. According to the American Heart Association (AHA), a certain amount of cholesterol is necessary for good health, but too much cholesterol in the blood can lead to clogged arteries and is a major risk factor for heart disease.
