Dr. Tarek Eldawy, a board-certified medical oncologist with Sacred Heart Medical Oncology Group, will present a free seminar on the latest treatments available for lung cancer on Monday, Nov. 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Hospital Conference Center on Ninth Avenue in Pensacola.
Sacred Heart and the American Lung Association of Florida are partnering to present this seminar, which will include a panel of experts discussing management of the side effects of treatment and tools to overcome the social and emotional challenges of the diagnosis.
Dr. Eldawy has been credentialed by the M. D. Anderson Physicians Network®. Physicians Network is a subsidiary of The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, considered the nation's top cancer treatment center. He joined Sacred Heart in 2007. One year prior to joining Sacred Heart, he completed fellowship training in hematology and oncology at Caritas St. Elizabeth's Medical Center of Boston and was named chief fellow of that program.
Dr. Eldawy also performed three years of training in internal medicine at Alexandria University in Egypt followed by residency training in internal medicine at Michigan State University. At Michigan State, he was named outstanding senior resident for 2003 and outstanding junior resident.
