The Eighth Annual Best Clinical Practice Symposium will be held Saturday, Jan. 17, at the Sacred Heart Conference Center on Ninth Avenue at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola. Registration for the event is due by Jan. 2. The symposium is designed for internists, family practitioners, geriatricians, nurses, nursing home administrators, social workers, and allied healthcare professionals.
Focusing on the care of the adult patient, the event will feature presentations on the following: osteoporosis screening, treatment and medications; an update on total joint replacements; medication management; assessing the difference between dementia and delirium; chronic heart failure; pneumonia; and bio-ethical decision making.
Jointly sponsored by The Medical Educational Council of Pensacola (MECOP), Sacred Heart Health System, Florida State University College of Medicine, Florida Medical Directors Association, and Florida Geriatrics Society and Live Oaks Geriatric Education Center, the symposium will begin at 6:30 a.m. with registration and a continental breakfast. The event will conclude at 3:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided, too.

- Angela Massey-Hill, associate professor in the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Services at Florida A & M University, Tallahassee
- Dr. Barry Arnold, professor emeritus of Allied Health and Life Sciences, University of West Florida
- Martha Perez, Administrator of the Haven of Our Lady of Peace, a local nursing home operated by Sacred Heart Health System and Methodist Homes for the Aging
