The Ladies of Charity, a volunteer organization associated with Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola, will hold its Second Annual Chairs for Charity Auction and Pass-Along Plants Sale on Saturday, May 2, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Cathedral School gymnasium.
Local artists, Sacred Heart Hospital employees, members of Sacred Heart Cathedral and Ladies of Charity members are painting and decorating chairs for the event. More than 60 chairs, from formal to fun, are expected to be auctioned off by volunteer auctioneer Marty Stanovich. In addition, the Pass-Along Plant Sale will be held in the gym and many of the plants will have stories attached to share how they came to be "passed along."
Half of the funds raised from the chairs auction and plant sale will benefit the Morning Star program, which serves special-needs students who attend Sacred Heart Cathedral School. The remaining funds will support outreach projects of the Ladies of Charity.
As chairs are completed, photos and information will be posted on a blog: http://chairsforcharity.blogspot.com.
