Sacred Heart Hospital's Senior Service's program will present a free seminar on migraines and headaches, on Thursday, June 11, from 12 - 1 p.m. in the Rehabilitation Center at Sacred Heart Medical Park in Pace.
The seminar will presented by Dr. George Dmytrenko, a board-certified neurologist with Sacred Heart Medical Group. The seminar will teach attendees the different types of headaches and migraines, causes and risk factors, and prevention techniques, as well as lifestyle and medication treatment options. After the seminar, Dr. Dmytrenko will be available to answer questions and discuss individual cases.
Nearly 28 million Americans suffer from migraine headaches, and 75 percent of sufferers are women. One in four households in the United States has someone who gets migraines, with migraines costing the U.S. economy some $13 billion a year.
According to the National Headache Foundation, symptoms can include:
- Throbbing pain that starts on one side of the head and can spread
- Nausea and vomiting
- Extreme sensitivity to light and sound
