Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support Group Holds Monthly Meetings

SHARE, a local support group for parents who are dealing with the loss of a baby, will hold monthly meetings on the second Tuesday of each month from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church's Soundside/Community Life Center, 4115 Soundside Dr. in Gulf Breeze.

SHARE is a free self-help support group for parents who have lost babies through miscarriage, stillbirth, ectopic pregnancy, genetic abnormality, or newborn death (up to one year of age.) Discussion topics may include the grieving process, communication, marriage relationships, future pregnancies, genetic counseling, adoption, and stress management.

Meetings are nondenominational and are open to all. Out of courtesy to other SHARE participants, parents are asked to refrain from bringing children to the meetings.

The support group is facilitated by Lori S. Farmer, ARNP, MSN, a local registered nurse practioner and certified perinatal bereavement counselor with special training in genetics. In 2001, she was one of 13 nurses in the United States to be awarded the advanced practice nurse in genetics credential. Before coming to Northwest Florida in 2008, Lori facilitated a similar SHARE program in Fayetteville, N.C. for 15 years.

For more information, please contact Lori Farmer at (850) 565-4399 or visit the national SHARE website at www.nationalshareoffice.com.
