Sacred Heart Hospital will be holding free screenings for stroke on Saturday, Oct. 3, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Airport Medical Park, located at 1549 Airport Blvd.
Stroke is the third leading cause of death in America and a leading cause of adult disability. The good news is, up to 80% of strokes are preventable!
Sacred Heart Hospital is dedicated to winning the battle against stroke and is offering three free stroke screenings, including:
. Stroke Risk Assessment
. Carotid Artery Screening
. Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening
If you can answer "Yes" to any of the following questions, you qualify for a set of three free stroke screenings.
. Are you a diabetic?
. Are you over the age of 65?
. Are you over the age of 50 and a smoker
. Do you have a family history of abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA)?
The carotid artery screening involves using ultrasound to detect in blockages in the artery that may affect blood flow to the brain. The abdominal aortic aneurysm screening is the same procedure done on the upper abdomen. Attendees are asked to wear loose, comfortable two-piece clothing (i.e. separate top and bottom) for the screenings.
