Excellent service
is one of the Core Values at Sacred
Heart. Numerous awards and ongoing certification and accreditation
procedures support our commitment to quality. Some of our most
prestigious accolades include:
The Consumer Choice Award -- given to Sacred Heart Health System by National Research Corporation. Since 1996, independent surveys by NRC found that across the region, consumers rate Sacred Heart Health System far ahead of other area hospitals for quality, reputation, and services. The surveys found that in the region from Baldwin County, Alabama, to Walton County, Florida, Sacred Heart was preferred by a margin of 2-1 over its nearest competitors. The same wide margin in favor of Sacred Heart was found when consumers were asked to rate which hospital had the Best Overall Quality.
In 2001, Sacred Heart also was named as one of the nation's Top 100 Orthopedic Hospitals by another
national research and consulting organization, The HCIA-Sachs
Institute.
The independently sponsored study, "100 Top Hospitals: Orthopedic
Benchmarks for Success" compared hospital performance on four
established procedures:
- Total knee replacement
- Total hip replacement
- Partial hip replacement, and complex hip fractures
In 2005, Sacred Heart Hospital achieved accreditation from the Joint Commission
on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations after showing full
compliance with all of the Joint Commission’s nationally recognized
health care standards.
Sacred Heart Health System also participates in many quality initiatives
such as Ascension Health's "Healthcare That Is Safe" program and the 100,000 Lives Campaign, a national effort to improve the
quality of health care in the United States. For more information
on the 100,000 Lives Campaign, visit their web site at www.ihi.org.
We also support efforts by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid
Services and the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA)
to gather data to compare how hospitals compare on certain measures
of quality. AHCA makes available data on hospital prices and performance
on its web site at www.FloridaHealthFinder.gov.
No data or web site can replace the value of direct communication
between the patient and their physicians. Information on the course
of treatment and the physician's perspective on effort to reduce
infection and improve outcomes should be discussed. Individuals
also should remain focused on areas of personal health improvement
that can positively affect their risk of infection and treatment
outcomes.
