Palliative Medicine Physician

Sacred Heart Health System in coastal Pensacola, Florida is looking for two Fellowship-trained Palliative Medicine Physicians. Sacred Heart Hospital is a 466-bed acute care facility and the hub of a multi-hospital health system that extends across the Florida Panhandle.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert assessment and treatment of complex symptoms
  • Provide inpatient consultation services in Palliative Care
  • Facilitate clarification of patient and family goals of care
  • Participate in multispecialty Palliative Care team meetings
  • Communicate and collaborate with referring physicians and other members of the healthcare team regarding plan of care
  • Full and appropriate documentation of patient care in order to support professional billing for these services
  • Assist in the development of standards of care, policies, procedures and educational offerings
  • Comply with legal and regulatory statutes, clinical policies and procedures, and the Ethical and Religious Directives of the Catholic Church
  • Participate in outreach to community groups
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of the Palliative Care Department’s expansion and continued integration of clinical activities (Oncology Unit, Medical and Surgical Intensive Care Units, Emergency Department, Outpatient consultations, specialized Inpatient Palliative Care Unit, and possibly other venues).
