Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola has long been the area’s leader in surgical services. We performed the area’s first open heart surgery in 1972 and we opened the area’s first outpatient surgical center in 1980. Surgeons at Sacred Heart also performed the region’s first minimally invasive surgeries to remove the gallbladder and appendix. More recently, we have been the region’s leader in performing “off-pump heart surgery” where coronary bypass surgery can be performed without stopping the heart.
Today, our skilled surgical teams work in state-of-the-art operating rooms equipped with the latest diagnostic and surgical equipment. We perform approximately 20,000 inpatient and outpatient surgeries a year. New technologies and new less invasive techniques are constantly being introduced into our surgical suites.
