 Teen Volunteer Program
Sacred Heart Hospital - Pensacola
Students between 16 – 18 years of age may apply to our Teen Volunteer Program.
Requirements
- Effective January 1, 2009, applicants must be at least 16 years old and have successfully completed the ninth grade.
- Must be willing to commit to a regularly scheduled four (4) hour shift for a minimum of 32 hours for each session. All service must be scheduled in advance, no unscheduled service will be permitted.
Application
- Teen Volunteer Application Packets are available upon request from the Volunteer Office (850) 416-7883.
- Teen must re-apply for each session regardless of prior service.
- Summer Teen Program - June through August
- Applications accepted between April 1st and May 15th
- School Year Teen Program – October through May
- Applications accepted between August 1st and September 15th
- Enrollment for each Teen Program will be limited. Due to the exceptionally large number of applicants, preference will be given to those who are in a health academy, or a member of HOSA. Once a program is full, no additional applications will be accepted.
Volunteer Service Opportunities for Teens
- VIP Program – one-on-one interaction with adult inpatients. This is an excellent opportunity for those interested in a nursing career.
- Child Life Volunteer – assist with diversional play activities for pediatric patients.
- Patient Care Support – assist patients and professional staff in outpatient departments of the hospital.
- Office Support – provide clerical support in an office setting.
- Haven Residence – assist “God’s Older Children” with activities and games.
- Print Shop – assist with binding, collating, laminating, copying, and cutting.
